System Page

When SLmail is installed, the Configuration Program sets the configurable parameters appropriately for most sites. In most cases, you should be able to simply install SLmail and start using your mail server. If your configuration is unusual, or if you wish to use SLmail in an atypical way, it may be necessary to alter the configuration parameters.

Note: It is often best to bring SLmail up in a simple configuration and verify its correct operation prior to attempting any modifications.

Most of the key parameters can be found within the System page of the SLmail Web-based Administration utility.

The System Page is divided into three sections:

  1. Identification

  2. Directories

  3. Alias

Note: In the illustration above, IP addresses such as 192.168.x.y are special IP addresses that have been set aside and reserved for intranet use only by Internic. You will need to use the actual values that have been assigned to your domain for your IP address, your Smarthost (if any), and your name server. The values illustrated above will not work for Internet IP Addresses.

The Control Panel Applet System tab is nearly identical to the Web-based Administration.
